Mark Whaling

Principal

Mark is a born problem solver with a 25-year track record of building and scaling businesses in the US and Canada in the FinTech, Construction, and Real Estate Development industries. Through his investment firm, Position & Hold Investments, LLC, he provides the strategic direction, leadership, and investment capital necessary to identify and successfully execute residential urban infill developments. Mark brings extensive operational experience in land acquisition, entitlement, project design, engineering, debt and equity capital raises, and financial reporting.

In addition to his role at One Development, LLC, Mark currently serves as CEO of Austin Concrete Development LLC, twice recognized as one of Austin's fastest-growing companies and a recipient of the Austin Business Journal's Fast 50 award in 2015 and 2016; custom home builder Rosemark Properties LLC, and investment firm Position & Hold Investments, LLC.

Mark’s active involvement in Austin’s real estate and construction sectors for the past 20 years, through his multiple companies and his decade-long support of the American Institute of Architects Austin chapter, is a testament to his deep industry knowledge and extensive network. His participation as a General Partner, Limited Partner, General Contractor, or Subcontractor in over 1,900 residential, commercial, and public works projects throughout Central Texas further underscores his commitment to the industry.

Mark’s superpower is Pixel Perfection. With a slight glance, he can pick up on every nuance, flaw, typo, and unlevel piece of artwork. His attention to detail is an asset to the company and every project we touch.

When he’s not working, Mark can be found spending time with his wife Rosemary and sons Timothy and Justin or enjoying the serenity of the open skies. Mark is also an instrument-rated pilot and aircraft owner and, as a result, suffers from an uncontrollable urge to look up whenever an airplane flies overhead.
